No Vacancy

in Me and my Insecurity!

I asked Shri today what he believed happened to a person once they passed away. His answer: “Nothing – I think there is nothing. Think of humans as perishable commodities that can be manufactured at home. When you’re done with one of those, you’re done for good”.

I can’t accept that answer. For one, he just compared me to a perishable good. This happens to be one of my closest friends and he compared me to a perishable good. Secondly, It’s really really really depressing.

No, I need to believe that once I die, there will be something bigger and better after that. I’d like to believe that thing is Heaven. I know there are no guarantee’s of getting into Heaven.I know, there is the smallest of chance (OK! Not so small!) that I’ll end up in Hell, but I’ll try my luck.

Oh! and if getting into Heaven means I have to come back again as a cockroach in my own apartment and get stomped on by a foot as big and heavy as mine, so be it.

I want to believe that when I die, I’ll be able to go to Heaven where I meet a new HCHHSSTT everyday.

I can’t imagine that we have nothing after this, that we die with nowhere to go.

Heaven and Hell can’t decide that they are satisfied and illuminate the “No’s” on their “Vacancy” sign.

After all, what kind of world would it be if  Hitler didn’t end up in Hell and have Satan sticking a grenade up his ass every day.

Then again, maybe if we were all more like Shri and believed that there was nothing better, we would try a lot harder to enjoy this world and that’s not a bad thing either.

Is it bad to believe in something that encourages you to make the most of what you have right now?

The greatest part about being a kid is that you have your whole life to look forward too. As far as you’re concerned you are Immortal. When you’re Immortal, the sky is the limit.

Once it dawn’s on you that you aren’t going to live forever, you start second guessing yourself more and more. You start second guessing everything you do. Every year feels wasted and every minute ticks away with you rehashing the past instead of working on a brilliant future.

I guess, I’m just happy for HCHHSSTT’s (especially the ones in boots) – closest thing to Heaven.

Yes. it’s one of the great philosophical questions that has bothered mankind since Adam and Eve – if you believe in them! And the basis for all religions. Speaking personally I haven’t given it much thought… maybe that makes me a shallow person? I would like to be remembered by those I leave behind… and that’s about it. I like to live in the present and enjoy the moment. But, a good post… BTW, a typo in the headline! It’s missing a ‘c’!

Almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure — these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your dreams. —Steve Jobs

Cliff Notes: Losers think of dying, winners think of living.

Very good post
We are created for God and we dont belong to this earth ,we belong to God ,he has created us to be like him and we are on earth to Glorify his name . Earth shall pass away …Hence dont be attached to worldly pleasure ..It is Temporary . Indeed no one can give you the peace that the Lord can give .Perfect and everlasting happiness after death comes from doing the will of God.
Heaven is being with God, and Hell is the the absence of God
God has given us free will to choose
The choice is ours, to answer God or reject Him – to choose for ourselves between Heaven and Hell.

Bosey: Sounds like something Bijoy would say.

Sanka: I’m not worried about losing anything. I just like to think, there is another journey after this one. This one feels too short. I want more. Stop quoting Steve Jobs to me
and stop giving me cliff notes.

I’d like for this debate to end now. I’m not here to start a religious debate of any sort.

Whatever anybody’s beliefs… please keep them off my blog.
